Tutor

brc-header
I have long had a passion for teaching and found it to be a rewarding experience.  However, standard nomenclature such as “Teacher” and “Instructor” seem formal to me and give the impression of “unapproachable”.  The BRC (British Retail Consortium) chooses “Tutor” which I find more inviting, as it implies a smaller, “intimate” group.  This approach combines the benefits of one-on-one learning with those from a multidisciplinary team.

Over the past two weeks, I have had the privilege and pleasure of being the BRC Tutor for our fellow PacMoore team members, customers, vendors and a state regulator.  In groups ranging from 6 to 16 delegates, we were able to interact and share perspectives in a relaxed environment; discussing the upcoming changes to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety from Issue 6 to 7.

PacMoore has made a unique commitment to continuing food safety education that is rarely seen in our industry.  In this case, we have partnered with the BRC Training Academy, where my role extends as an in-house Approved Training Provider for BRC Food, HACCP and Agents & Brokers standards.  The collaboration effort has been fulfilling and rewarding, from both a personal and corporate level.

Our goal is to provide the “Gold Standard” in Quality Assurance for our customers and the industry as a whole.  I am fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to be a Tutor as part of my role in achieving this very important objective.

Check out the BRC’s new Quick Guide to Issue 7! We used it to lay out the steps to certification for quick reference: LEARN, REVIEW, PREPARE, PLAN, AUDIT & CERTIFICATION, and lastly MAINTAIN.
