The book of Exodus in the Bible records a conversation between Moses and God where Moses pleads with God not to send the Israelites anywhere if God’s Presence would not go with them. This has become a prayer for us on each trip and after 4 days in Nepal we have certainly seen God’s Presence at work here long before we arrived.
Today was a full day that began with an inspiring meeting about cardamom spice. Through that discussion we formed a renewed vision for working with the small rural farmers not only here in Nepal but also in Africa. From there we headed over to Top of the World Coffee for a great lunch and great discussion with one of the owners about how best to do business as mission, not only in Nepal but everywhere, including the US. The afternoon was sweet as we met for several hours with two different organizations involved in honey in Nepal (sorry, couldn’t resist the play on words). We learned Nepal has a phenomenal honey reputation throughout the world and we are excited to continue to explore what opportunities there might be for us to help add value to these small farmers.
Our day concluded at a restaurant called Southern Comfort. Tonight was their first night of serving dinner. It was opened by a young man from Phoenix doing some great work with solar panels here in Nepal. While the breaded pork chops definitely reminded us of home, the best part was meeting 8 of Jacob’s good friends there and seeing again what a tremendous community God has put in place for him here. We are truly thankful for those answered prayers and for another day of seeing God’s Presence going before us leading the way!
